This program can be undertaken via a 4 year pathway.

Admission criteria

Students may be admitted to the course on the basis of
(a) the ATAR score or its equivalent,
(b) the School's Recommendation Scheme,
(d) the Indigenous Access Program,
(d) or possess other qualifications deemed to be equivalent by the Faculty.

English Language Proficiency Entry Requirements for Teacher Education Preparation Programs

English Language Proficiency entry requirements for non-Anglophone International students are: an overall IELTS (or equivalent) score of 7.5 (with no score below 7 in reading and writing, and a score of no less than 8 in speaking and listening).

Note: Please refer to relevant National or State employing bodies for their English language proficiency requirements when seeking employment.

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 304 points.

Course Structure

All subjects are core subjects, the course comprises 39 subjects (the equivalent of 304 subject points - 38 subjects x 8 subject points and 1 subject x 0 subject points).

NOTE: Recent national and NSW Government changes related to pre-service teacher standards of literacy and numeracy indicate that state and/or national tests of literacy and numeracy must be satisfactorily completed by all students prior to their final professional experience placement and graduation. For this reason additional pre-requisites pertaining to literary and numeracy may be applied to subjects as required.

Accreditation

The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary) course is accredited by two professional bodies:

1. The Board of Studies Teaching and Educational Standards NSW (BOSTES), which accredits the course against the requirements of the Australian Institute of Teachers and School Leadership. All course documentation has been submitted to BOSTES and has been examined by a panel of trained accreditors. This course is nationally accredited by BOSTES until 31 December 2015.

2. The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), which accredits the course against the national quality standards for early childhood.  The course documentation has been submitted to ACECQA who have accredited the course as an Early Childhhood teaching qualification.
