The Bachelor of Educational Research (Honours) is an embedded end on Honours qualifications and enables students to select from a wide range of methodologies providing considerable flexibility in research design. Entry to this course is via the Graduate Certificate in Educational Research which provides an introduction to educational research, an overview of common educational research methods, and an in-depth focus on qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Such study prepares students for the dissertation undertaken for the Bachelor of Educational Research (Honours).Graduates acquire the disposition to seek reason, explanation and justification; and the skills of investigation, analysis, reflection, interrogation of data, and the reporting on the outcome of these processes. This course does not include professional experience placements.

Admission criteria

Applicants will require a Graduate Certificate in Educational Research, with a credit average.

Applicants who have completed equivalent research subjects elsewhere may also be eligible for admission. If such applicants obtained the equivalent of a credit average in these equivalent subjects, they may be admitted to the course with the approval of the Course Coordinator

CSU Credit Policy

Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Educational Research with a credit average will be able to transfer into the Bachelor of Educational Research (Honours) with credit for EER500, EER501, and EER502. They will also be able to obtain credit for EEB415 Dissertation Proposal and Literature Review, provided they enrol in the Bachelor of Educational Research (Honours) no longer than 6 months after completing EEB415.

Credit for applicants who have undertaken equivalent subjects elsewhere will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Graduation requirements

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.

Course Structure

The course comprises 64 credit points, 32 points credited from the Graduate Certificate in Educational Research for the following four subjects:

EER500 Introduction to Educational Research
EER501 Qualitative Research Methods
EER502 Quantitative Research Methods
EEB415 Dissertation Proposal and Literature Review
and completion in the Bachelor of Educational Research (Honours) of the 32 point subject:

ERP404 Educational Honours Dissertation (Full Time)
or
ERP405 Educational Honours Dissertation (Part Time)

Enrolment Pattern

ERP404 Educational Honours Dissertation (Full Time) and ERP405 Educational Honours Dissertation (Part Time) can be undertaken in either Session 1, Session 2 or Session 3 to accommodate full and part time enrolment patterns.
