Graduates of the Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy will have an understanding of the broad socio-economic and political context in which adult and vocational education is located; an awareness of social justice and equity policies and their application in a range of teaching and learning environments; knowledge about adolescent and adult learning; skills in teaching and learning; skills in the assessment of student learning and the evaluation of training programs; skills in and knowledge of training in workplace environments; expertise in communication; expertise in face-to-face and digital teaching and learning environments; the capacity to design and manage adult and vocational education programs; the ability to analyse and think critically and constructively about current developments in vocational education and training, and research skills that enhance professional and workplace practice.

Upon completion of the course, graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy will have an awareness of social justice and equity policies and their application in a range of teaching and learning environments; for example Indigenous, refugee and migrant education and training strategies; knowledge about adolescents and adults, and learning; skills in teaching and learning, assessment and evaluation of adult language, literacy and numeracy training programs; an awareness of the value of open and lifelong learning.

Applicants must hold an appropriate degree (i.e., undergraduate Bachelor degree) from a recognised university and have a minimum of one year relevant industry experience or equivalent related to their undergraduate degree.

The Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate [Exit Point Only] make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 32 points.

Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy

This course consists of 64 points comprising eight core subjects. All the subjects are 8-point subjects as follows:

Graduate Certificate in Adult Language Literacy and Numeracy (exit point only)

To exit with the Graduate Certificate in Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy students must complete a total of four subjects (32 subject points equivalent) comprised of the following:

EEL418 Learning Theories for Post Compulsory Education;
EEB424 Workplace and Professional Literacy and Numeracy;
and one of:
EEB429 Issues of LLN Practice in Adult and Vocational Education;
