The Graduate Diploma of Inclusive Education is designed for teachers who would like to develop expertise in the inclusive education field. The course provides teachers with basic training in special education and the opportunity to increase their status in the teaching profession, increase eligibility for promotion and gain recognition as a teacher with inclusive education professional qualifications. The development of practical skills is a vital component of this course. Students already employed in some capacity in the field complete the practicum requirements within their current teaching role if there are children requiring special education in the class.

Graduate Diploma of Inclusive Education

Full-time 1.0 years (2.0 sessions)

Part-time 2.0 years (4.0 sessions)

Normal course duration is the effective period of time taken to complete a course when studied Full-time (Full-time Equivalent: FTE). Students are advised to consult the Enrolment Pattern for the actual length of study. Not all courses are offered in Full-time mode.

Admission criteria

CSU Admission Policy

Applicants must:
1) hold a three-year Diploma of Teaching or Bachelor of Teaching degree; OR be a graduate of an approved tertiary institution with an end-on integrated professional qualification in teaching; OR possess other qualifications deemed to be equivalent by the Faculty of Education; AND
2) have access to students with special educational needs in educational or other settings for the completion of practical exercises.
 

Credit

CSU Credit Policy

Credit will be granted in full for the four subjects completed as part of the Graduate Certificate in Inclusive Education.

Graduation requirements

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.

The course is comprised of eight subjects (64 points): 6 core subjects and 2 elective subjects.
