The Master of Ethics and Legal Studies is designed to meet the demand for the study of ethics and legal studies across various vocations in a way that is broad in scope and provides specialist expertise particular professions require. In addition to core subjects in ethics and in legal studies, students select subjects in accordance with their particular needs and interests. Subjects are selected from a comprehensive, vocation-directed list of subjects dealing in ethical and legal issues offered by the many disciplines across the faculties. In the Master course, students choose a vocationally-specific specialisation, thus gaining postgraduate expertise in ethics and legal studies that is highly specific to their particular profession.

Applicants with an undergraduate degree will be admitted to this course.
Applicants who have completed the requirements for the Diploma in Ethics and Legal Studies are admitted to this course.

Graduate Diploma of Ethics and Legal Studies (with specialisations)
Applicants with an undergraduate degree are admitted to this course. Applicants who have completed the requirements for the Certificate in Ethics and Legal Studies are admitted to the Graduate Diploma in Ethics and Legal Studies.
Graduate Certificate in Ethics and Legal Studies

There are two broad categories of applicants to this course:

i) those who already hold an undergraduate degree; and
ii) those who will be admitted if they can demonstrate other academic and/or professional qualifications and/or work experience acceptable to the University.

Applicants with an undergraduate degree are admitted directly to the Graduate Certificate in Ethics and Legal Studies.

Dependent upon academic and/or professional qualifications and experience, non-graduates may be admitted at the discretion of the Course Coordinator to the Graduate Certificate.Non-graduate applicants should contact the Course Coordinator to discuss their eligibility and be prepared to present a case demonstrating their academic capacity and relevant experience. Salient considerations will be seniority of position and relevance of work experience, other training and/or qualifications. Non-graduates applying to undertake a specialisation will also need to have demonstrable relevant qualifications and/or experience in that (or a sufficiently similar) area of specialisation.

Successful completion of the requirements for the Graduate Certificate qualifies for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Ethics and Legal Studies.

Articulation

The Master, Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.

Graduation requirements

Master of Ethics and Legal Studies (with specialisations)

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 96 points.

Graduate Diploma of Ethics and Legal Studies (with specialisations)

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.

Graduate Certificate in Ethics and Legal Studies

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 32 points.

To graduate in a specialism the student must have at least 4 electives from that specialism (see List B) or 2 electives from the specialism and a Research Dissertation in that area.
