The Master of Medical Science produces managers and scientific staff with advanced and integrated understanding of underlying scientific concepts and recent research advances. Graduates have detailed knowledge and understanding in medical science together with analytical and problem solving skills, financial, legal, human resource management and assimilation of scientific/clinical information as well as specific discipline knowledge through independent reading, research methodology and research expertise.

The Graduate Certificate in Medical Science produces graduates with advanced understanding of underlying scientific concepts and recent research advances. Graduates have advanced cognitive technical and communication skills to select and apply methods in medical science together with analytical and problem solving skills, financial, legal, human resource management and assimilation of scientific/clinical information.

Admission criteria

CSU Admission Policy

Master of Medical Science (with specialisations)

This course is available to applicants who hold either a 3 or 4 year undergraduate bachelor degree in a relevant area or one of the following CSU Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diplomas:

  • Graduate Certificate in Respiratory Science
  • Graduate Certificate in Asthma and Respiratory Management
  • Graduate Diploma of Genetic Counselling

Applicants intending to complete the pathology specialisation will be required to have a minimum of 2 years full-time employment as a medical laboratory scientist (or equivalent).

Students may apply for credit for prior relevant postgraduate study.

Students who have completed one of the following courses will receive 32 points credit on entry to this course:

Articulation

The Master, Graduate Diploma [Exit Point Only] and Graduate Certificate [Exit Point Only] make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.
