Domestic applicants

Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree or be able to furnish evidence which demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Dean of the Faculty that equivalent requirements have been met.

International applicants

Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree and have appropriate facility with the language of instruction; or be able to furnish evidence which demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Dean of the Faculty that equivalent requirements have been met.

Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

Students must hold an undergraduate degree, three-year diploma, or be able to furnish evidence which demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Dean of the Faculty of Education that equivalent requirements have been met.

CSU Credit Policy

Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (with specialisation)

Students who have successfully completed the Graduate Certificate in TESOL from Charles Sturt University will receive 36 credit points (equivalent to 5 subjects) towards the Master of TESOL.

Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in TESOL from Holmesglen TAFE receive a specific credit package of 28 subject points represented as:

  • EML508 Socio-political Contexts of TESOL
  • EML510 Language: Theory, Acquisition & Development
  • EML513 TESOL in Practical Contexts
  • EPT504 TESOL Professional Experience

The original credit package for Holmesglen TAFE (FOE 46) is provided in Appendix 7; the revised credit package details are provided in Appendix 8. Students are advised to contact the Faculty Office.

Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in TESOL from Australian Catholic University receive a specific credit package of 20 subject points represented as:

  • EML509 Grammar & Linguistics for Teaching Language
  • EML513 TESOL in Practical Contexts
  • EPT504 TESOL Professional Experience

Articulation

The Master and Graduate Certificate make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.
