COM341 Industrial Issues in the Arts (8)

Abstract

Contemporary industrial issues in the arts are researched and analysed through a series of action learning seminars devoted to topics such as contracts for writing, directing and acting for stage, radio, television, film and associated media industries, the operation of commissions, the influence of current political and policy issues, and the ways in which changing circumstances impact on the practice of arts/media industries in Australia. Occupational health and safety, insurance, and the policies and functions of relevant funding bodies and industrial organizations are examined. Alternative organisational structures and survival strategies for arts/media workers will be researched and reported on. Each student will prepare a digital e-portfolio, with a view to gaining entry-level employment in their chosen field.
