ERP504 Research Thesis (24)

Abstract

This subject requires students to select a significant issue of interest from the field of Educational Leadership and/or International Education to explore in depth. Students will have completed at least one subject in either qualitative or quantitative research methods. Students will be required to identify appropriate methods for investigation of the issue, demonstrate an understanding of the processes of educational inquiry and to submit a thesis of approximately 20,000 words. During this process the students will work under the guidance of an appointed supervisor.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to identify a significant issue in educational leadership and/or international education to investigate;
  • be able to adopt appropriate procedures and research methodology to investigate the selected issue;
  • be able to draw on a suitable conceptual/theoretical framework;
  • be able to critique relevant literature;
  • be able to accurately analyse data and present results in a meaningful manner;
  • be able to prepare a logically argued thesis; and,
  • be able to write an original piece of work that extends available knowledge in the chosen area.
