ESA512 International Educational Leadership (8)

Abstract

Drawing upon a comparative perspective, this subject will examine selected educational trends, practices, issues and debates from around the world. The subject will support analysis of the theoretical and philosophical assumptions underlying educational and leadership issues and provides for an in-depth examination of selected matters. The subject will consist of three distinct stages: (a) setting a focus for learning where students examine theoretical and philosophical assumptions underlying educational and leadership issues (b) immersion where students will undertake an in-depth examination of a particular issue (c) reflection, where students will further examine the assumptions underlying an issue and move to a clear articulation of a chosen topic for an in-depth analysis. Immersion entails experiential learning and/or in-depth examination of the issue. Reflection will include debriefing, reflection, and reporting of learning.
