GPM709 Identifying Best Practice In Policing And Security (32)

Abstract

This coursework subject provides a series of Australian and international case studies in policing and security that are aimed at professional development. The subject provides a systemic and critical view of best practice from both, a theoretical and practical approach, as well as an examination of methods for implementing change to achieve best practice. It also contains elective studies for advanced learning relevant to professional practice.

Restricted to students enrolled in the Doctor of Police Leadership or the Doctor of Policing and Security.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate a critical understanding of a range of Australian and international case studies relating to policing and security
- be able to demonstrate a critical understanding of the utility of theoretical and practical approaches to best practice in policing and security
- be able to demonstrate a critical understanding of best practice in policing and security derived from the experiences of other professionals
- be able to analyse differences and similarities that exist in best practice within law enforcement and other government security as well as emergency management roles
- be able to evaluate a range of approaches for implementing change to achieve best practice in policing and security
- be able to analyse best practice as it applies to their field of professional practice
