HRM532 International Human Resource Development (8)

Abstract

This subject examines human resource development from a cross-border perspective and identifies the changing role of the human resource development practitioner. It considers the affect on the workplace of globalisation and culture, and highlights the strategic importance of human resource development in the competitive global business environment.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to identify and explain the major factors influencing International HRD;
  • be able to formulate and recommend corporate strategies for development of key cross-border business staff;
  • be able to analyse and critique the contribution of HRD to cross-border corporate strategies;
  • be able to incorporate integration and differentiation into the design of International HRD programs;
  • be able to critically evaluate the contribution of learning and skill acquisition from different cultural contexts in the design of International HRD programs;
  • be able to differentiate between key aspects and stages in International HRD programs; and
  • be able to hypothesise key issues and challenges in the process of future International HRD activity.
