This subject takes a thematic approach to Australian history with an emphasis on social history. In particular, it explores many of the events, debates and developments that have shaped Australian history in the twentieth century.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate expanded knowledge of twentieth century Australian history
- be able to demonstrate their awareness of the range of events, debates and developments that have shaped Australian history in the twentieth century
- be able to assess and interpret evidence drawn from a range of sources
- be able to demonstrate their capacity to use primary sources in archives and libraries
- be able to demonstrate enhanced competencies for critical thinking and expression

Australia in the Cold War (1945-1990) -Topic 8: Religion and Spirituality in Australia in the twentieth century -Topic 9: 'Bridging the gap between the rich and the poor'.
