Abstract| This subject discusses the importance of information in decision-making and ways in which information professionals can enhance the value of information. It introduces a range of information access sources including library portals and subject databases. In seeking information, students are expected to go beyond traditional sources, such as libraries and the internet. Students develop their own feasibility topics for investigation and present a value-added report relating to their findings. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to understand the role of an information professional in a non traditional information environment;
- be able to identify, critique and put into practice strategies for working with clients in a consulting role;
- be able to analyse and synthesis information sources, and respond creatively to current emerging trends in information services provision;
- be able to critically evaluate the provision of information services in designated discipline areas; and
- be able to design, develop and effectively engage with the value adding process in critically analysing information for a client.
