Abstract

Change in organisations, including information organisations, is ubiquitous. Students will be introduced to the concept of organisational change, types of change, causes of change, managing change and leading change. They will also investigate the role of information in change, the nature of change in information organisations to managing and leading change in information organisations.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to analyse, and explain in detail, the nature of change, its types, and causes;
  • be able to reflect on and synthesise complex information, problems, concepts and theories in order to manage change;
  • be able to synthesise complex knowledge in order to lead change processes;
  • be able to practice leading a change initiative in information organisations;
  • be able to apply their in-depth knowledge and skills to investigate and critically analyse organisational environments;
  • be able to interpret and transmit knowledge, skills and ideas about change to specialist and non-specialist audiences;

  • The nature of change in information organisations
  • The practice of change menagment and leading change in information organisations
