ISL467 Applied Arabic I (Balaghah) (8)

Abstract

This subject builds on the linguistic rules and comprehension of classical Arabic developed in the advanced grammar subjects (ISL465 and ISL466) and further develops the students ability to apply these rules in refined language. This subject will introduce students to Balagah (Elequence) and its three sub-topics 'Bayan', 'Ma'ani' and Bad'ee'. The rules of Balagah are addressed and combined with examples from the Qur'an. This subject provides foundations for the further application of Classical Arabic language skills.
