ITI537 Implementing & Administering Network Directory Services (8)

Abstract

This subject is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to install, configure, and administer a network directory. The subject also focuses on implementing Group Policy and performing the Group Policy-related tasks that are required to centrally manage users and computers.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to identify the concepts of a directory service and its logical and physical structures;
- be able to implement a Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructure in preparation for installing a directory;
- be able to install a directory on a computer running Windows Server, and perform post-installation tasks;
- be able to set up and administer domain user accounts and groups;
- be able to publish resources, including printers and shared folders, in a directory;
- be able to delegate administrative control of directory objects.
- be able to manage user environments by using Group Policy;
- be able to use Group Policy to deploy software;
- be able to create and manage trees and forests in a network, and administer forest-wide resources;
- be able to manage directory replication within a site and between sites;
- be able to manage operations masters;
- be able to manage and restore the directory database;
- be able to implement a directory infrastructure that is based on the business requirements.
