Abstract| This subject assists students to build further on their undergraduate study of theories of personality and achieve critical understanding of the relevance of those theories in the professional work of psychologists. The applicability of personality theories to counselling and psychotherapy is studied and students are encouraged to articulate their own personality theory and rationale. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate an accurate knowledge of the present state of personality psychology
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues and status of personality research and evaluation
- be able to develop a working method for evaluating the utility of theory and knowledge in personality psychology
- be able to critically analyse how theory and empirical data might eventually be integrated into a grand explanation of human behaviour
- be able to demonstrate awareness of how to apply theoretical knowledge to psychotherapeutic interventions
- be able to demonstrate an appreciation of the knowledge building processes of theory through logical and measured evaluation of current knowledge and controversy in personality psychology
- be able to demonstrate the development of organised and efficient study habits |
