SPH413 Therapeutic Communication Practice 4b (16)

Abstract

This workplace learning (WPL) subject represents the second of the final year subjects that students undertake in order to demonstrate competency in the speech pathology scope of practice as defined by the Competency-Based Occupational Standards for Entry Level Speech Pathologists (CBOS; SPA, 2011). During this subject, students work with a different client group and in a different practice setting to SPH403 (the first WPL subject), in order to consolidate and demonstrate their professional knowledge and skills with either a pediatric/adult population (not previously seen in their final year WPL experiences). They also have opportunities to build on skills such as service management, professional/supervisory and reflective practice developed in SPH403, in order to reach competency in these areas.
