SPH544 Reflection on self, learning and professional practice for speech pathologists (8)

Abstract

This is the final reflective practice subject in the stream of 4 reflective practice subjects (SPH514, SPH524, SPH534 and SPH544). In this subject you will apply reflective practice and clinical reasoning skills to critically reflect on your learning and professional practice across the duration of the course. You will evaluate your knowledge and skills and plan for future learning and professional development.

You will participate in a range of online learning experiences that offer the opportunity for you to share your ideas and knowledge and learn from others in interactive activities including completing structured discussion threads/topics, independent study, blog entries and reading/responding to others' blogs. You will explore professional, clinical and rural and remote skills as well as strategies for orientation, development and support as a entry level speech pathologist. You will attend a 4 day residential school in which you will have opportunities to expand on your clinical and professional skills, and participate in an exit interview. This interview will be modelled on a professional job interview and provides opportunity for you to demonstrate your learning throughout the course, your awareness of professional practice in Australia, and your ability to synthesize relevant professional knowledge with your own personal and clinical experiences.

To demonstrate mastery of these learning outcomes and learning experiences you will apply speech pathology knowledge and skills with creativity and initiative to new situations in professional practice through the completion of an exit interview, and keep a reflective blog summarising your learning and your plans for future professional development.

You will use the CSU Learning Management System, Interact2, an e-portfolio tool (Pebblepad), the SARRAH online modules and other online and audio-visual technologies to engage in learning activities with your peers and to complete assessment tasks.
