Admission criteria
CSU Admission PolicyEntry into the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology is competitive based on GPA and requires:
- a Bachelor degree in Exercise Science and/or Sport Science or equivalent qualification; and
- an assessment for postgraduate Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) study from Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) indicating that all Exercise Science knowledge and skills criteria are met (other than apparently healthy practicum hours).
All students applying for admission MUST apply to ESSA for the assessment for postgraduate Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) study regardless of the accreditation status of their undergraduate Exercise Science qualification or current ESSA Exercise Science (Full) membership status.
Applicants that do not satisfy all Exercise Science knowledge and skills criteria may not be assessed for admission and referred to the
Diploma of Exercise Studies to address knowledge and skill deficits.
Applicants that satisfy all Exercise Science knowledge and skills criteria, but have not completed all apparently healthy placement
hours prior to start of academic year, are considered to have met admission criteria and will be assessed based on competitiveness.
Please note that ESSA may take up to 80 days to perform the assessment for postgraduate Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) study. Students interested in applying for this course are strongly encouraged to submit their assessment for postgraduate Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) study application prior to 30 September of the year prior to seeking admission to ensure they receive their assessment letter to attach to admission application. Details regarding how to apply for the assessment for postgraduate Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) study can be found on the ESSA website (https://www.essa.org.au/). ESSA will perform a preliminary assessment for postgraduate study based on academic transcripts that are yet to include grades from final session of undergraduate study. Not having a completed final transcript should not deter applicants seeking ESSA assessment.
