Abstract|
This subject focuses on major issues and viewpoints confonting industrialised agriculture and society in relation to conservation of the environment and sustainable development. Students will engage in researching key issues, undertake critical evaluation of the current body of knowledge and existing viewpoints, and synthesise their own viewpoints utilising a strong evidence-based approach. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Be able to discuss and debate alternative viewpoints on sustainability and sustainable agriculture;
- Be able to synthesise differing viewpoints and elements of sustainability into a coherent framework and set of principles or definitions;
- Be able to evaluate the sustainability of an agricultural region or industry and articulate a viewpoint on approaches to improving unsustainable practices;
- Be able to demonstrate research, analytical, critical, reflection and communication skills through review of the literature and contributions to academic debate and discussion about sustainable agriculture
