Upon completion of this subject students will be able to:
- demonstrate a growing understanding of the visual language and a development of skills; - show an understanding of the relationship between visual research, experimentation and the final product; - demonstrate some insight into the forms and styles employed by artists from disparate points in time and place; - critically analyse their own and others work; - display a knowledge of and concern for a safe work environment.

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics: The subject will work through a series of topics, techniques and processes in the practice of painting and/or printmaking.
Topics will include for example:
- exploration of sources of imagery and their application in developing an individual approach to image making;
- further studies from the human figure and landscape as a source of developing personal imagery;
- experimentation with materials and methods of application;
- researching works of other artists;
- experimentation with scale;
- safe studio practice.
