Abstract

The ability to operate effectively across a range of media platforms is essential for students entering careers in the fields of communication, art, design and media production. This subject provides an introduction to a range of audio and visual production techniques that students will use throughout their degree and subsequent careers.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to use a range of techniques to capture, edit and publish audio and moving images
  • be able to construct narratives using audio and video production processes
  • be able to appropriately use the various file formats used to publish audio, moving images and web media
  • be able to create and maintain a personal website and online profile
  • be able to produce and critique creative works made using audio, video and web processes

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
  • fundamental principles of narrative
  • foundational techniques for capturing, editing and publishing audio and moving images
  • media production standards, techniques and applications
  • time, project and asset management
  • conceptualisation, planning and production processes for audio, video and web
