COM421 Theory Production, Performance (16)
Abstract| A subject which explores at an advanced level the major theories which seek to explain the nature of television and theatre production, design, and performance. Theoretical approaches explored will include structuralism, post-structuralism, feminism, genre studies, semiotics, and cultural imperialism and globalisation, and their application to students' areas of specialisation, such as television (writing, authorship, composition, camera, directing, post-production and reception); or theatre and television design (concept, interpretation, designer/director relationship, style and genre, mise-en-scene, lighting, sound and costuming); or performance (including classical and neo-classical performance; realism, Stanislavski, and the Method; expressionism and Brecht; culturally constructed theatre; and post-modernism). |
