COM429 Company Management (Industry Practice) (Honours)(Part time) (16)

Abstract

A subject which will provide the student with a critical analysis of the function, human management operations, and organisational structure of theatrical, communication, or television production companies, and with the skills to manage their own project in an appropriately professional manner.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- exhibit a thorough theoretical and working knowledge of theatre, communication or television administration and company management
- have the knowledge and skills to manage their individual projects in a professional manner

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
- an overview of arts and media management practices - funding, budgeting and accounting practices - client relationships - planning, scheduling and programming - production management - industrial issues and arts/media management - contracts - copyright, product information, and disclaimers - human resources and personnel management - selling the product: promotion and publicity
