Abstract|
This subject is designed to introduce students to methods and practices in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research. This subject further develops students' appreciation of the links between theories and practices in research. Students will develop the knowledge and skills to understand and critique educational research by examining the operationalisation of design concepts to generate methodologies for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
-appreciate the choices and decisions that researchers make when operationalising design questions into research practice;
-develop an understanding of commonly used methodologies in educational research and the ways that these address issues of validity, reliability, generalisability, and reality;
-gain insight into the conduct of qualitative and quantitative research including sample recruitment, ethical considerations, and reporting of findings;
-develop skills to analyse and interpret qualitative and quantitative data. |
