EMM442 Curriculum Method 2: Mathematics (8)

Abstract

This subject extends students' knowledge and practice of mathematics teaching and learning. It covers a range of strategies for teaching and assessing mathematics, with a focus on ways of differentiating the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of learners in the classroom. The subject explores the use of ICT in mathematics classrooms. It examines the role and value of mathematics in the broader school curriculum in the context of important social and cultural issues in the teaching of mathematics.

The readings and textbook form the essential content for the subject. However, students are encouraged to read more widely. The study guide (posted on the Interact site) contains questions and ideas that are designed to help students to understand and apply concepts introduced by the readings and the textbook. Students are encouraged to have conversations about the readings and other material with their peers on the subject forum.
