EMV302 Adult and Vocational Education in Australia (8)

Abstract

Quality training and assessment requires practitioners to have a thorough understanding of the Australian Vocational Education and Training system. This subject explores the theoretical, regulatory, and practical factors that influence training. Needs assessment, learning and assessment design, evaluation of training, and a range of other current issues are addressed at a critical level. This subject assumes background knowledge of content covered in the TAE Certificate IV in Training & Assessment  and experience working within the context of Australian Qualifications Framework Training Packages.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • Effectively use Training Packages (and other curricular structures) to design, implement and evaluate specific programs which meet the qualification rules and the training needs of different groups of students;
  • Plan a strategic training needs analysis;
  • Design effective learning plans, including appropriate strategies and tools;
  • Design effective assessment pathways, including assessment plans, strategies and tools;
  • Plan and design effective evaluation of a training and/or assessment program of a specific context; and
  • Contextualise current directions of training and assessment within Australian organisational contexts, including emerging best practices.
