ENG180 Performance Planning & Review - Student Engineer (4)

Abstract

In this subject, students engage in reflective management of their learning and teamwork performance.  They plan their workload, set goals and then use evidence-based reflection processes to determine if they have met these goals, adjusting their actions where necessary.  The expectations for this subject are that the student should be performing at the level of a student engineer.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the variety of engineering workplaces and explain the principles of engineering practice;
  • Articulate theoretical models of teamwork and their place within engineering workplaces;
  • Set individual goals and produce a plan to manage the transition from university to work placement:;
  • Adapt and revise career plans to meet changing work conditions;
  • Identify the structures they will use to manage their learning and professional performance in the future; and
  • Demonstrate and model effective interpersonal communication.

Syllabus

The subject will cover the following topics:
  • reflective practice;
  • project planning and monitoring;
  • working effectively in diverse teams; and
  • workplace communication.
