ENM109 Introduction to Professional Practice (8)
Abstract
Being professional is not only about being competent and skilful, but it also means behaving in an ethical way. In this subject students will start to consider and plan for their future area of employment and what it means to be a professional in that area. They also start connecting with potential employers, improve their ability to apply for employment, and plan a course of action that ensures they complete their degree as 'work ready' graduates. They also learn important professional skills in communication and working as part of a team. Students will also learn about the workplace learning requirements of their specific course of study. Work placement is to be undertaken after completion of this foundation subject, and must be completed before enrolling in the ‘capstone’ subject ENM309 Managing Projects and Resources. The subject has no residential school. On completion, students will have a broad and coherent understanding of what it means to be a professional and will start to take responsibility for the transition for becoming a professional. |
