Abstract|
This subject will examine the broad spectrum of government and non-government activities that constitute the countering of terrorism. This will span the activities of the military, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies of governments at local, regional, and international levels. It will also incorporate the practices understood as ‘Countering Violent Extremism’ and the role played by non-national security agencies of government and the increasing role of civil society organisations and community organisations. |

- be able to demonstrate the ability to research, analyse and critique counter terrorism in the diverse contexts of local, regional, and international perspectives
- be able to critically analyse, consolidate, and synthesise historical and contemporary counter terrorism
- be able to critically analyse the countering of terrorism at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels
- be able to communicate an informed understanding of key counter terrorism strategies to specialist and non-specialist audiences
- be able to make high level, independent assessments, and provide sophisticated, empirically based analysis of current and emergent counter terrorism approaches and challenges in a scholarly, law enforcement, intelligence, military or other related contexts
