Abstract

Effectively developing human resources is an essential component in attracting, building and retaining high performing individuals and teams within organisations. Developing skills, experience and performance are essential tools to achieve individual career development and organisational outcomes. Drawing on industry best practice and theory, this subject covers the major human resource development approaches from an organisational and individual perspective.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • critically analyse the major human resource development program types in the context of individual and organisational development;
  • evaluate individual and organisational human resource development needs in the context of talent management and succession planning;
  • identify, discuss and apply appropriate learning theories in the design, assessment and evaluation of human resource development programs; and
  • plan the implementation of a human resource development program for an individual and/or organisational context.
