- be able to explain the theoretical aspects of a variety of sexual and asexual plant propagation techniques;
- be able to describe the relative advantages and disadvantages of various plant propagation techniques; and
- be able to accurately display practical proficiency in a variety of plant propagation techniques. |

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics: The uses, techniques and relative advantages and disadvantages of:
- seed propagation
- cuttings propagation
- layering
- budding and grafting - bench and field techniques
- propagation using bulbs, corms, tubers, etc
- tissue culture propagation |

Residential SchoolThis subject contains a compulsory 3 day residential school.
The residential school provides a hands on approach to the theory taught.
