Abstract
This subject provides students with the opportunity to engage in a range of professional tasks within an information agency for a period of three weeks. They will gain a deeper understanding of how that type of organisation services its particular clientele, and they will develop their own skills and knowledge within a practical and collegial setting. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to provide a comprehensive overview of a particular information agency;
- be able to apply relative theories to practical situations;
- be able to discuss the role of the information agency for the community it serves;
- be able to articulate their professional learning experiences from their participation in a professional site for a set period of time (three week placement); and
- be able to reflect on their professional learning experiences from their practical involvement through discussions in Interact and completion of their placement report.

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
- Participation in a specific information environment for a period of three weeks
- Reflective practice in action
|

Work Place LearningThis subject contains a Compulsory Workplace Learning component of 15 days duration.
Students are exposed to the normal day-to-day activities of the workplace and usually undertake a pre-determined project that utilises the knowledge and skills acquired through their studies. They then reflect on their experience and discuss in their formal report.
