INF446 Fundamentals of Web Publishing (8)

Abstract

This subject provides students with the skills and knowledge required to create linked web pages. Students study and apply the formatting techniques for setting up web pages and incorporate forms and multimedia elements into their designs. Basics of hypertext markup language (XHTML) will be introduced to provide a basis for students to use authoring tools for web publishing. They will then learn to structure online content for information sharing using extensible markup language (XML). Students will also take into account accessibility and security issues while designing web pages.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

  • be able to comprehend accessibility and security issues and their application into web page design.

The subject will cover the following topics:
  • File structures and text authoring elements (tags)
  • Text editors and authoring tools for webpage creation
  • Web page formatting, tables, and links
  • XML and cascading style sheets (CSS)
  • Forms and multimedia components
  • Accessible and secure web site designs
