ISL365 Advanced Arabic Grammar (8)

Abstract

This subject builds on ISL364 and introduces advanced Arabic grammatical rules in the further uses of verbs in complex sentence structures and tenses. Classification of sentences, sentence analysis and use of particles will be addressed. Writing, reading, speaking and comprehension practice is included to build  previously acquired proficiency.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

  • Be able to distinguish between 'hamzatul-wasl' and 'hamzatul-qat' in speech and writing
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of masadir (root words)
  • Be able to distinguish between three lettered and four lettered verbs
  • Be able to show an understanding between formal Arabic and colloquial Arabic
  • Be able to comprehend in detail the uses of 'inna' and 'kaana' and their related 'sisters'
