Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to negotiate and agree on an identified research topic and appropriate skills and knowledge with a supervisor;
- be able to investigate appropriate training and materials for an identified research project;
- be able to execute an understanding of the materials and processes needed for the research project;
- be able to link acquired knowledge to the research project and reflect on the process taken to achieve the learning outcomes of the subject.

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
- Literature review in a chosen research area
- Research paradigms and analysis relevant to the chosen research area
- Formulate research questions and hypothesis
- Writing a research proposal
- Specific topics to be negotiated between the student and the supervisor as per the chosen area of research
