Abstract

This subject is for support professionals who will be responsible for installing, configuring, managing and supporting a network infrastructure that uses the Microsoft Windows 2003 Server products. The subject discusses domain name systems (DNS), Windows internet naming service (WINS) and DHCP servers and covers in detail how to design, install, configure and troubleshoot a Windows 2003 network environment. It deals with planning the infrastructure of a network, installing protocols, different name resolution techniques and automating IP address allocation. The subject also details other services such as: certificate services, IPSEC protocol and how to secure the network.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be able to configure network security by using public key infrastructure (PKI);
- be able to configure network security by using internet protocol security (IPSec);

- be able to support remote access to a network;
- be able to configure Windows 2003 as a network router;
- be able to configure internet access for a network;
- be able to configure a web server;
- be able to manage a Windows 2003 network;
- be able to identify and resolve network connectivity problems by using Windows 2003 troubleshooting tools and utilities; and
