ITI557 Supporting a Network Infrastructure 2 (8)

Abstract

This subject will provide students with the knowledge necessary to plan and maintain Microsoft Windows network infrastructure. Students will learn about advanced applications, protocols and services included with Windows 2003 Server and how to plan, configure and implement them to make the network both efficient and secure. The subject covers planning and implementing server roles and its security, planning, implementing and maintaining server availability, network and security infrastructure. The topics discussed include TCP/IP, network connectivity, security problems and how to overcome them and security policies.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be able to plan and implement server roles and server security;
- be able to plan and troubleshoot a routing strategy;
- be able to plan a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) strategy;
- be able to optimize and troubleshoot DHCP;
- be able to plan a domain name system (DNS) strategy;
- be able to plan a secure baseline installation;
- be able to optimize and troubleshoot DNS;
- be able to deploy security templates;
- be able to create and manage digital certificates;
- be able to plan and optimize Windows internet naming service (WINS);
- be able to plan, optimize, and troubleshoot IPSec network access; and
- be able to troubleshoot network access.
