Abstract

The goal of this subject is to give teachers the skills to develop and implement a digital curriculum that integrates the Internet and the World Wide Web into the curriculum. Key technologies and associated issues are dealt with including developing web based activities that are relevant and appropriate for the target audience.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to explore new ideas, strategies and specific tools for integrating the internet into the curriculum;
- be able to identify the purpose, audience, and audience needs for a website;
- be able to identify web page content that is relevant to the website purpose and appropriate for the target audience;
- be able to demonstrate knowledge of standard copyright rules (such as related terms, obtaining permission, and citing copyrighted material);
- be able to demonstrate knowledge of website accessibility standards that address the needs of people with visual and motor impairments;
- be able to understand project management tasks and responsibilities;
- be able to plan site design and page layout;
- be able to demonstrate knowledge of best practices for designing a website (maintain consistency, use styles, use standard fonts, and use web-safe colours).
