Abstract
This subject furthers prior learning and/or experience in journalism to advanced practice in the creation of convergent journalism through manipulation of text, visuals, and audio in new forms of journalistic storytelling. Students will consider theoretical contexts of converged journalism and construct their own knowledge of its practice through development of an online project. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to synthesise and interpret theory of journalism convergence and online story telling
- be able to use elementary coding in online story telling
- be able to manipulate text, visuals and audio and incorporate social media in online story telling
- be able to construct knowledge of specialised technical and creative practice in relation to convergent journalism
- be able to use cognitive skills to plan and develop a journalism project for the transfer of knowledge and ideas to a variety of audiences.

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
- Critical frameworks and theory for analysing convergent journalism practice
- The use of images and audio in convergent journalism storytelling
- Industry conventions, formats and methods for gathering and writing journalistic content using visual, audio, textual and social media content
- Project planning and development in relation to journalism practice
