JST321 Justice Studies Workplace Learning (8)

Abstract

Justice Studies Workplace Learning utilizes an integrated workplace learning approach which allows students to develop a critical understanding of criminal justice organisations (both government and non government) in civil society, their role in criminal justice and social justice processes and their relationship to social policy development. Through an integrated 80 - 90 hour workplace placement it familiarises students with the daily workings, concerns and processes of a variety of criminal justice agencies and/or non government justice organisations. Students then have the opportunity to apply their workplace experiences to assessment items within the subject. Students will be guided through the initial stages of finding a placement and have the opportunity to share their workplace learning experiences with other students at the end of the session. The placement engages students with one or more criminal justice agencies and develops their understanding of ethical professional practice as well as informing their transition from tertiary study to paid work.
