AbstractThis subject is aimed at the production of a mature and cohesive body of work for exhibition that clearly demonstrates the development of both conceptual rigor and a high level of knowledge and skill in the articulation of design outcomes as well as a sound understanding of current directions in contemporary jewellery. Students will be required to develop their own parameters for such a project in conjunction with the teaching staff. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- develop a contract clearly outlining the concept and the body of work to be produced; - research a concept; - develop conceptually rigorous designs informed by the concept; - translate these designs into a cohesive body of jewellery; - present a written and illustrated critical essay of 2000 words. |

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics: with emphasis on rigorous conceptual development, depth of investigation and expert technical production:
- production of contract
- research the agreed contract concept
- design to the concept
- translate the designs into a cohesive body of jewellery
- manufacture the designs to the highest technical standards
- present an illustrated critical essay of 1,500 words on the concept and resulting body of work
