Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to utilise various technologies (e.g. blogs, portfolios) to express and communicate ideas (aligns with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse: 1.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.6, 3.2, 4.2, 4.3, 5.1, 6.3, 7.2, 8.2, 9.2, 10.2)
- be able to explain the legal and ethical issues of privacy and confidentiality of social media use as it relates to the Nursing Code of Conduct (NMBA 1.1, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.6, 9.2, 9.5).
- be able to explain the concepts of academic integrity, ownership, intellectual property, and copyright and apply these concepts through correct use of attribution and referencing (NMBA 1.1, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 10.4)
- be able to compose a piece of academic writing supported by the literature using academic conventions (NMBA 3.3, 4.1, 9.2).
- be able to locate information that is relevant to the field of nursing, evaluate the sources of that information and select high quality information to formulate and support an academic argument (NMBA 2.1, 2.2, 2.5, 3.3).
- be able to reflect on self as a learner and identify learning opportunities which facilitate the development of lifelong learning skills (NMBA 1.3, 2.5, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 6.2, 7.3, 8.1, 8.2).
- be able to perform basic mathematical calculations including basic operations, fractions, percentages, rates and ratios (NMBA 1.2,1.3, 2.6, 7.2, 9.2).
