NRS170 Context of Nursing Practice 1 (8)
Abstract| This subject develops an understanding of the primary health care approach to health care. Primary health care is a philosophy of service provision and a means of delivering health care to communities which is acceptable to the community, is at a cost the community can afford and involves the participation of the community. Students will examine factors influencing health and health behaviour, principles of health promotion and the role of nurses and other health care workers, self-care and self-management. Principles of health promotion and education will be presented and used by the students to carry out practice-based activities. Application of knowledge to practice will be facilitated through placement in appropriate health care settings. |
