PSY518 Psychology Practicum 3 (0)

Abstract

This subject involves a 250 hour professional placement in an approved clinical or forensic setting. The specific focus of the placement will be determined by the Postgraduate Placements Coordinator to meet course requirements, but will involve the application of the acquired knowledge while undertaking supervised practice in a setting related to adult mental health, child and adolescent problems, neuropsychology, or a nominated specialisation.

Only available to students enrolled in the Master of Psychology or Doctor of Psychology.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be able to prepare and undertake a full psychological assessment of clients in the nominated placement population

- be able to demonstrate an awareness of commonly used psychological tests in the assessment of clients in the nominated placement population
- be able to develop a comprehensive formulation of the presenting problems for clients in the nominated placement population
- be able to develop and document a treatment plan for clients in the nominated placement population
- be able to implement psychological treatment intervention with clients in the nominated placement population, under supervision 
- be able to monitor, evaluate, and report on the outcome of implemented treatments
