SPA407 Applied Geostatistics (8)

Abstract

This subject covers the fundamental topics of geostatistics and demonstrates their application in the geosciences.
Core concepts and algorithms for geostatistical modelling are covered, with a focus on approaches used to characterise spatial and spatiotemporal distributions of geoscientific data.
On completion, students should be able to select, apply, validate and evaluate appropriate geostatistical approaches to characterise and quantify spatial and spatiotemporal distributions of variables of interest. The subject incorporates the use of geographic information systems to integrate geostatistical techniques in the wider spatial sciences discipline.
