SPH526 Conducting and evaluating practice-based research projects in speech pathology (8)

Abstract

Using your knowledge of research principles and methods gained in other subjects (SPH511, SPH512, SPH513, SPH522, and SPH523), you will execute a substantial research based project (planned in SPH516). Your research must involve collaboration with others, and focus on prevention, education and/or promotion of communication and swallowing issues, or speech pathology assessment and intervention.

This project will be planned during a workplace learning experience (completed in SPH515/17 and 525/27) , supervised by your clinical educators and supported by CSU academic and general staff. Continuing from SPH516, in this subject you will:
  • Conduct and monitor your research
  • Disseminate your research findings
  • Explore opportunities for conducting research in practice.

To demonstrate mastery of the subject learning outcomes and learning experiences you will communicate your research outcomes to project stakeholders, as well as a professional audience by presenting a conference paper and writing a journal article.

You will use research databases, CSU Interact2 subject site and online communication tools (discussion boards/wikis/chat room/blog etc).
