Abstract
This subject offers an introductory engagement with the major doctrines of the Christian faith, including God as Trinity, the person and work of Christ, the Spirit, humanity and the church. It explores the tasks, methods and sources of Christian theology, enabling students to develop initial skills of theological reasoning together with the capacity to use theological vocabulary. The subject introduces key figures in the history of theology, and it explores connections between the discipline of theology and contemporary life. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
- Christian theology as an exploration of divine revelation and human responses to it
- Introduction to major doctrines of the Christian tradition:
- Knowing God;
- Creation and Fall;
- The Person and Work of Jesus Christ;
- Life in God.
- Tasks, methods and sources of Christian theology, for example, revelation, scripture, tradition, reason, experience, culture, praxis
- Key figures in the history of Christian theology
- Christian theology and contemporary life

Residential SchoolThis subject contains a optional 2 day residential school.
The residential school for this subject provides an orientation to the subject matter, methodology, library resources and research tools pertaining to the study of Christian Theology.
Activities include lectures, library orientation and group work.
